Liz Smith MSP

Cllr Andy Chan Perth City South Ward and Liz Smith MSP have today welcomed a paper to Perth and Kinross Council next week which sets out the financial package to move the replacement Perth High School project forward. This includes increasing the budget by a further £11.8m.

Commenting, Andy Chan said,

“This project has been a long time coming and will be welcomed by pupils, staff, parents and the wider community. As a former Perth High School pupil myself I know the current building is not suitable for the way young people are now taught and we really want to see a school facility which will serve future generations of local young people and the community of Perth South. This project has cross party support in the City, and we are all anxious now that financial closure is sought and that the project can get started.”

Liz Smith MSP said,

“I am pleased to see the council moving forward with the ambitious project to replace Perth High School. This replacement is much needed. I welcome the commitment of funding through the Scottish Government Learning Estate Improvement Programme and also the move by Perth and Kinross Council to deliver on its commitment to replace schools to the highest possible environmental standards. I hope that Wednesday's council meeting will be the final step and we can then see work begin".
