Kinross-shire Councillor Neil Freshwater has today spoken in a debate to support a call for The Freedom of The City of Perth to be bestowed on the team behind the 2023 Grand National Winner, Corach Rambler from Kinross-shire. Speaking after the debate which took place at a full meeting of Perth & Kinross Council, Councillor Freshwater said:
“I was delighted to support a motion calling for the Freedom of Perth to be bestowed upon Lucinda Russell, Peter Scudamore and the winning team behind Corach Rambler. This second Grand National win is a fantastic achievement for Kinross-shire and Scotland. Speaking in the chamber, I reflected on how this victory highlights the important contribution that the equestrian industry brings to our rural economy. As well as racing stables, Kinross-shire alone has a polo club, vaulting club, numerous livery yard businesses, one of the country’s leading specialist equine veterinary practices, and numerous coaching and supply businesses. This is in addition to the wider commercial and community benefit that the horse riding brings to Perth & Kinross. This honour would be a fitting tribute to Lucinda, Peter and the team.”
