Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has asked the Royal Mail to clarify information regarding changes to the delivery schedule in Perth’s PH1, PH2 and Ph14 postcodes.
The Royal Mail has indicated that in some instances residents will receive their mail later than the current service.
The majority of households will feel no effect however small businesses receiving mail later in the day could face problems.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“I am hopeful that the Post Office will be careful when implementing any changes to the current delivery timescale. Minimising the disruption to both households and businesses is paramount.
“Nonetheless some small businesses in Perth will inevitably be affected. Many parts of Perth and Kinross are served by substandard internet services and any revision to the postal service must be measured against the resultant impact on local business.
“Without access to effective e-communications, an efficient postal service becomes a vital business tool and as such must be protected.
“I have written to the Post Office in search of further clarification.”
