Homeowners in Perth & Kinross have been given the chance to insulate their homes for free this winter.Residents in Perthshire and Kinross-shire can get loft and cavity wall insulation installed for free by applying for the Scottish Government’s Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS).The multi-agency scheme will provide free loft and cavity wall insulation to residents who want to make their homes more energy efficient and reduce energy consumption. The initiative is being delivered by Perth & Kinross Council in conjunction with SCARF (Save Energy and Reduce Fuel) and the Scottish Government.Loft insulation and cavity wall insulation will help householders improve energy efficiency within their homes. UHIS is a free service and is not means-tested, meaning all homeowners can apply. The deadline for applications is Thursday 28 February, and the free loft and cavity wall insulation will be awarded on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:“This is a great scheme which will be of real benefit to many households across Perthshire and Kinross-shire who are faced with rising energy costs.“Providing better insulation within homes will help reduce energy consumption, and that is a very good thing. I’d encourage anyone who is looking for better insulation to apply to this scheme.”To apply for free insulation contact SCARF on 0844 8460551 or 01224 213005.
