Following complaints from both motorists and local communities, Mid Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP, Liz Smith has asked the SNP Scottish Government to take urgent action to ensure that there is clear and effective signposting on the diversion routes required for approaches to the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire Bridges.
Liz Smith MSP said:
"I have raised the issue because of complaints made on 7th and 8th December by constituents who travelled west from Dunfermline to Kincardine Bridge, and who were struck by how few diversion signs were in place to advise drivers of the dedicated routes for HGV/buses and those for cars. There were insufficient signs at the Cairneyhill roundabout which led to some cars heading on the wrong route.
Likewise, through Torryburn and Valleyfield there was an absence of diversion signs and at the T junction of the road through these villages and the A985 there was only a red signed saying "road closed". It made no reference to the fact this was only for cars.
The Minister mentioned that some vandalism had taken place - which is clearly very regrettable obviously - but I hope he will ask Transport Scotland to urgently review this matter possible.
