Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser recently met with BT Scotland representatives during a presentation on Next Generation Access (NGA) Broadband and Murdo wants to see the latest infrastructure technology to be invested in Perthshire to improve broadband services. During the meeting, BT Scotland outlined how it is delivering superfast broadband in Scotland and the current technologies available to households and businesses where exchanges have been upgraded. Murdo Fraser said: “It is welcome to see first-hand the latest technology that is being invested in Scotland. BT Scotland is investing a great deal of time and resources in improving the infrastructure and bringing the latest technology to households and businesses. “It is vital that we see investment in Perthshire and our local exchanges upgraded to provide faster and more reliable broadband. It is extremely frustrating for residents and businesses to hear about superfast broadband and Next Generation broadband when parts of Perthshire cannot receive reliable broadband or any broadband at all. “The Scottish Government must understand the growing frustration from local businesses and residents in Perthshire regarding the lack of broadband connectivity and ensure that Perthshire is a priority for investment. There are too many communities in Perthshire where the broadband service is substandard, and I know from constituents who live in the Amulree, Butterstone, Glenshee, Trochry, Loch Tay, Strathbraan and Strathardle areas of Perthshire amongst others that we need to see investment in these communities.”
