Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife, has called for an urgent meeting with SNP Scottish ministers and local representatives regarding the proposal to move T in the Park to Stathallan Castle.
The Mid Scotland & Fife MSP has written to Derek McKay MSP, SNP Minister for Local Government and Planning to highlight several serious concerns regarding the process by which the proposal to move T in the Park from Balado to Stathallan Castle has been progressed within Perth & Kinross Council.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is very clear amongst the public that there are several serious concerns about how this proposal has been arrived at.
“Over the past few weeks I have spoken with a large number of local residents and representatives of the five local community councils. The majority of local people believe that there has been a complete lack of transparency about the basis on which the proposal to move T in the park has been made. They rightly want answers about conflicting information which has come from Perth and Kinross Council - some of it suggesting that the issue was a "closed" matter and some suggesting that no decision has been taken. Yet while there is this confusion tickets are now being sold for next year's event.
“T in the park is a very important event within Perth & Kinross. People are generally supportive of its role as a major summer festival but what they want to know and deserve to know, with full transparency, is who made the decision to make the change of site, who was consulted and using what supporting evidence. Above all, they have a right to expect a robust and open process.
“It is vital that these many concerns are quickly addressed and I hope that Scottish Government Minister’s will look to listen to these in the coming days and weeks prior to any final decision being given the green light.”
