Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip Hammond, has today announced that the UK Government will rubber stamp a City Deal for Stirling.
Murdo Fraser has praised action from the UK Government, the local business community and the Conservative coalition at Stirling Council for their hard work in securing the deal which could transform the local economy.
Over the last 18 months’ plans for a harbour, digital district, city park and a space for SME’s to flourish have been drawn up with the intention of securing a deal.
This latest announcement from the UK Government means that every city in Scotland is now covered by a lucrative city deal.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“This is great news for Stirling Council and the team behind the city deal who have worked tirelessly to bring this bid home.
“A city deal has the potential to secure long-term economic growth in Stirling and I’m sure this announcement will be welcomed by people across the political spectrum.
“Other cities in Scotland are already benefitting from a city deal and it is only fair that Stirling will follow them in this regard.
“Hopefully, this deal can transform the look and feel of Stirling and make the city an attractive place for new businesses to start up and create jobs.”
