Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife and Ian Duncan, Scottish Conservative European Candidate visited the Strathearn Distillery near Methven. The Strathearn Distillery is Scotland's newest micro-distillery.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is great to see a new business going from strength to strength. Perthshire and Strathearn already has a strong whisky industry and rich heritage.
“Whisky represents one of the UK’s outstanding economic success stories, with industry exports generating £135-per-second for the UK balance of trade in 2012. The whisky industry in Scotland has gone from strength to strength in recent years partly due to the UK Government securing an agreement with Chinese officials which means Scotch Whisky on sale in China can only be sold according to UK rules.
“The Strathearn Distillery is Scotland's newest micro-distillery producing both whisky and gin and I wish all involved with the business the best of luck as they look to grow in the future.”
