Scottish Conservatives have called on SNP Ministers to give anassurance that venues for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be ready. The call comes following the postponement of the National Schools Swimming Championship at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow after the unexpected closure of the venue. Liz Smith MSP, Shadow Minister for Sport said “It is very disappointing that the National Schools Swimming Championships which were to be at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre have been cancelled. Teachers, parents and pupils are clearly very disappointed but more importantly questions are being asked about the preparedness of the venue. “I have written to SNP Sports Minister Shona Robison, seeking an assurance that all other Commonwealth Games venues will be ready on time and asked the Sports Minister to provide an update on the preparedness of all venues ahead of the Games in July.”
