Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has backed a surveillance survey launched at Stirling University.
The Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy (Crisp) will study surveillance technologies, how they are used and the privacy implications.
This ground-breaking research will look to provide greater understanding of user submitted information and its use by private organisations and the government.
Commenting on this announcement Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“This research will hopefully provide an insight into the use of our digital footprint by the government and private organisations.
“This research comes during a week of high profile privacy breaches. Society as a whole looks to benefit from the services offered by the internet yet in the same breath wants to have their privacy protected, a balance must be struck.
“This is important research and more impressive that Stirling University are playing such a large part within it.”
