Mid- Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has congratulated St. Andrews and Burntisland on being included in the list of Britain’s top 50 beaches.
The Mail on Sunday compiled a list of the 50 best beaches in Britain, and placed St. Andrews 37th and Burntisland 38th.
The West Sands beach in St. Andrews was described as “one of the most glorious stretches of sea and sand in the whole United Kingdom.”
Burntisland, a Blue Flag winner for 13 consecutive years, provides amusement park style games and activities for all to enjoy along with its beautiful beach.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“I am very pleased to see both of these Fife beaches recognized amongst Britain’s best.
“Tourism in Fife relies heavily on its coastal attractions and award winning beaches help increase the region’s tourist appeal.
“Both beaches provide a focal point for their local communities and also help drive the local economy in their respective towns.
“Earlier in the year Burntisland was one of three Scottish beaches to retain their blue flag status, therefore it’s great to see it being recognized in a poll of Britain’s best beaches.
“Hopefully Burntisland and St Andrews’ placing in this national poll will bring even greater awareness to both of these great Fife towns, especially during the current warm weather.”
