The Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has also called on the Scottish Government to provide support to help Stirling and Dundee pursue funding for their proposals. Liz Smith MSP, Shadow Minister for Sport said: “I warmly congratulate Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh on winning the bid forScotland's national performance centre for sport. This is a very exciting development for our capital city at a time when Scottish sport is very much on the international stage. “It is vital that we provide first class community facilities for sport across Scotland and put in place the training support needed to nurture out athletes. “Although Stirling and Dundee will be extremely disappointed in not securing the centre it is clear that they have put together imaginative bids and I hope that they will look to pursue funding for their proposals.
