The newly designed 14-strong lorries have images of produce from across Scotland. Tesco’s locally sourced produce from Fife includes household names such as Cupar’s Quaker, Kettle Produce and Kirkcaldy’s Kingdom Bakery. Tesco’s Scottish Local Sourcing office was established in 2004 and works closely with over 150 producers across Scotland. In the last three years the Scottish Local Sourcing Team has launched over 400 new Scottish products and worked with 24 new Scottish producers. Murdo Fraser said: “It is welcome news that Tesco has a number of producers from Fife. Tesco’s new fleets of lorries, which features Scottish food favorites, celebrates the vast range of locally sourced food and drink available in Scotland. “It is fantastic that well-known brands, such as Quaker, Kettle Produce and Kingdom Bakery, hail from our local area. Tesco’s sourcing of local produce from the Fife area is of benefit to the local economy and promotes Fife to the rest of Scotland and the United Kingdom.” Liz Smith said: “I warmly congratulate Tesco in their campaign to promote Scottish produce and the fantastic local producers which work year round to produce world class produce. “Tesco have built strong relationships with local producers which helps consumers to choose fresh, locally-produced food. This in turn is one way in which each of us can help shape a better future for our local farmers and businesses.”
