Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, has called on fellow parliamentarians to give their backing to Blairgowrie's Bradley Neil as he takes part in his first US Masters golf tournament.
A parliamentary motion lodged by Murdo has drawn cross party support from 27 other politicians.
Bradley joins two other Scots on the start list as he bids to become the first ever Briton to win the low-amateur prize, the silver cup. In the entire history of the Masters only one British amateur player has ever made the halfway cut, Peter McEvoy, 40 years ago.
Alongside the British Open, which is to be held at St. Andrews this year, the Masters is Golf's most watched tournament and Bradley will be joining golfs most exclusive club when he tees it up on Thursday, quite a journey for a 19 year old from Blairgowrie.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
"Everyone in Blairgowrie will be glued to their tv screens over the course of the week as they follow Bradley's progress in America. For many, the Masters is the pinnacle of the golfing calendar and to play at it during your teenage years is already quite an achievement.
"Last year I had the pleasure of watching Bradley compete at the Junior Ryder Cup and you could already see what a tremendous ambassador he is for both Blairgowrie and young golfers across Scotland.
"Both myself and politicians from every party would like to wish Bradley the best of luck as he prepares for the tournament and encourage him to enjoy every moment of this well-earned experience."
