The Scottish Parliament’s Apprenticeship Scheme has been launched today (Wednesday 5th November). The programme, which will employ twenty 16-24 year olds in the Scottish Parliament to work in a range of areas including Visitor Services, Events, Security, HR and IT.
An Open Day for young people interested in hearing more about the available opportunities will be held in the Parliament on 21 November.
The apprenticeships will run for a maximum of 24 months with each apprentice working towards a high quality vocational qualification in areas such as IT, Security and general administration posts in Chamber and Clerking and Finance.
Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed the scheme and called for youngsters with an interest in gaining experience and vocational qualifications to apply.
Murdo Fraser MPS said:
“The Scottish Parliament is a very diverse workplace and can offer work experience in a whole variety of areas. This is a real opportunity for young people to gain qualifications and develop new skills to help build a successful career.
“I know the Parliament has piloted a modern apprenticeship programme before and that the applicants found the scheme very useful.”
“I would encourage anyone in Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire who is interested to attend the open day on 21st November and to consider applying for this worthwhile scheme.”
