Both NHS Tayside and NHS Fife have missed their 62 day cancer waiting time target.
The 62 Day Standard is a pledge to ensure that 95% of patients urgently referred with a suspicion of cancer will wait a maximum of 62 days from their referral to first cancer treatment.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Cancer is one of Scotland’s biggest killers and the 62 day target was introduced to ensure that cancer sufferers are treated quickly as successful treatment often rests on catching the disease early.
“It is therefore disappointing to learn that both NHS Tayside and NHS Fife are missing the target.
“The Scottish Government has been a sleep at the wheel of the health service and desperately need to equip health boards with the tools that will allow them to do their job.”
