Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, welcomed two very different groups, the Riverside Explorer Scouts and Perth’s University of the Third Age, to the Scottish Parliament last Thursday for a tour of the building, First Minister’s Questions and a lively Q and A session.
The University of the Third Age is an organisation which provides retired and semi-retired people with learning and development experiences.
The Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 who engage in a range of outdoor, community and Scouting activities that encourages personal and social development as well as having a bit of fun. The Riverside Explorer Group in Perth has been in operation for just over a year and has over 30 members.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“It was great to have both the Explorer Scouts and Perth’s University of the Third Age visit parliament and take in the spectacle that is FMQs.
“It’s important that parliament remains accessible to all, both young and old, and it is vital that the public are able to see their democracy up close.
“A lot of questions focused on how politicians can engage with the public and I believe that hosting sessions like this can play a key role in opening up politics to all.”
