Commenting Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser said:
“Finally nearly eight months after originally being shown, Scottish viewers will be able to watch Outlander and see what all the fuss is about.
“The TV series has proved to be a big hit across the pond with many fans looking to visit the locations featuring in the drama and there is a real opportunity to market Stirling as the “Home of Outlander.”
“The EET committee, which I chair, has been investigating the Film and TV industry and I would like to see the example of Outlander used as a model for attracting big productions to Scotland and Stirling.”
Scottish Conservative Candidate for Stirling, Stephen Kerr said:
"We are privileged to live in one of the most beautiful places on this planet. I am very proud to belong to Stirling and when opportunities like this come along we should grab them with both hands. I am excited by what this global exposure can do for our local economy and what this means for jobs and incomes.
"Promoting Stirling as the "Home of Outlander" is the kind of idea that offers up yet another bright spot for local tourism. And when the world does come to Stirlingshire we'll be sure to treat them to our famous trademark local hospitality."
