Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed news that Sainsbury’s Bank will be opening new offices in Fife to house nearly 300 contact centre employees that were previously based in Pitreavie and Rosyth.
Earlier this year, J Sainsbury plc purchased a 50% stake in Sainsbury’s Bank that was formerly held by Lloyds Banking Group, and as a result 270 LBG contact centre colleagues will transfer to Sainsbury’s Bank.
The new 21,000 sq ft customer contact centre, Caledonia House, is located on Innova Campus, Rosyth. The offices are on two floors and will boast modern facilities including break out areas, restaurant, and shower facilities.
Sainsbury’s is working on plans to open a new convenience store in Rosyth in Spring next year, close to the new contact centre.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“During a time when contact centre jobs are being outsourced or in the case of Police Scotland, being moved to a central location, it is good to see Sainsbury’s commit their future to the Fife area.
“Service jobs are crucial to the Fife economy and it is great to see a large private sector employer, like Sainsbury’s, retain nearly 300 jobs in the area.
“By investing in these premises Sainsbury’s have shown a commitment to their workforce which will hopefully lift staff morale and encourage economic growth in the area.”
