Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser, has welcomed the return of BBC radio services during the evening to Freeview channels in Scotland.
BBC Radio Scotland, Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Extra, 5 Live Sports Extra and the BBC Asian Network will now be available around the clock on Freeview in Scotland.
In 2011, at the conclusion of the digital switchover the BBC made the decision to remove BBC radio channels from Freeview during the evening to make space to launch BBC ALBA on Freeview.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Back in 2011, hundreds of residents got in touch to voice their displeasure at the removal of BBC radio services in order to make room for BBC ALBA; two years later and finally license fee payers can enjoy both services without compromise.
“I believe that it is extremely important to have our national radio station, BBC Scotland, reinstated. However, I am disappointed that Radio 1, 2 and 3 will continue to be unavailable and would hope that the BBC can reverse this situation in the near future.”
