Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has expressed his delight after Stirling was named host for the 2014 National Armed Forces Day.
Scotland last hosted the event in 2011 and the 2014 celebration will be significant in that it marks 100 years since the start of the Great War.
A member of the Royal family will be present to witness the parades, medal ceremonies and a military fly past.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Armed Forces Day is a national day of both remembrance and celebration for the great work our Armed Forces is doing and has done.
“The event symbolises the high regard Britons hold for their Armed Forces and the people of Stirling are extremely proud to be hosting such an event.
“I am confident that Scots across the country will travel to Stirling, just as they did in Edinburgh in 2011 to show their appreciation for our servicemen and women.
“Alongside the Bannockburn celebrations Stirling can now look forward to a set of truly spectacular events next year.”
