Conservative MSP and Chair of the Scottish Parliament’s Tourism Committee, Murdo Fraser, wants businesses in his region to capitalise on burgeoning tourism numbers.
Tourism visits to Scotland increased by 5 per cent in the last year which led to an increase in tourism expenditure according to ONS data.
With overseas and domestics visitors combined over 15 million tourists visited Scotland last year and spent over £4.7 billion.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Perth and Kinross is Scotland in miniature, the area boasts rugged wild land, beautiful hills and vibrant city living. I am calling on businesses in the area to capitalise on the increasing number of tourist visitors.
“Businesses in Blairgowrie recently collaborated to launch a website that serves as one-stop shop for tourists and I would encourage other towns in Perth and Kinross to do likewise.
“Tourists visiting from overseas are looking for a hassle free booking experience and being able to access information about what to see and where to stay in one place is a significant advantage.
“I would also call on the Scottish Government to commit to faster infrastructure improvements, both digital and physical, that can allow the area to make the most of more tourists visiting the area.”
