Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has urged local residents to take part in a 6 week local public consultation on the suitability of Alyth Post Office’s proposed new location at the Scotmid on Airlie Street.
Before plans are finalised, the Post Office is looking to hear local views on the suitability of the new location, its accessibility, and what can be done to improve it. The consultation runs between the 20th of June 2013 and 8th of August 2013, with the relocation planned for September.
Murdo Fraser MSP believes that this represents a great opportunity for Alyth residents to help tailor the services that they want to have at their new post office.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“I would encourage all residents in the Alyth community to contribute to this consultation as it is a great opportunity for local people to mould some aspects of their new post office.
“I understand that this move is part of the Post Office’s new strategy to convert around 6,000 of its outlets into new style branches.
“Hopefully, any relocation will result in the maintenance of current services as well as perhaps some additional advantages including longer operating hours and increased accessibility.
“Post offices are the lifeblood of many rural communities and any changes to their operating procedures should include as much local co-operation as possible.”
