“Dual the A9” campaigner and Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has called on the 17,000 members of the Dual the A9 campaign to get involved and give their views to a public consultation on the proposed Dalwhinne junction.
The next stage of the £3bn project to dual the A9 between Perth and Inverness has begun with a public consultation on the stretch at Dalwhinnie and the public have been asked for their views on 15 options for the route.
Murdo Fraser wants the Scottish Government to listen to the opinion of drivers who use the road when deciding what option is best for the Dalwhinnie portion of the road.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“The views of the thousands of people who travel up and down the A9 on a daily basis should be listened to when deciding on the layout of the new Dalwhinnie Junction. Ultimately only these motorists understand what works and what doesn’t on the road.
“Too often the views of ordinary motorists are ignored when creating transport policy and I welcome the Scottish Government’s consultation on what will be an important section of the dualling.
“The junction at Dalwhinnie is one of the busiest and most dangerous on the route and I would hope that this is recognised when shovels hit the ground and this section is finally dualled. In the long run only a fully dualled road can stop the carnage on the A9 and the sooner it is completed then the better it will be for both motorists and the economy north of Perth.”
