Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, visited SSE’s Head Office in Perth to discuss how their distribution network business is preparing for winter and to find out what help is available for their retail customers.
Keeping the lights on in winter when the country is battered by high winds, rain and snow is a challenge and SSE are working hard to avoid situations where there are outages.
Murdo toured SSEPD’s Network Management Centre to talk with their staff and to learn about the operation of their electricity network in the north of Scotland. Murdo also learned about the support on offer for SSE’s most vulnerable customers in the event of power outages and cuts.
Later in his visit Murdo met employees from SSE’s retail division to find out more about the support and advice they provide customers to help with their energy bills.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“When the power goes out it is often the elderly and vulnerable who are most at risk therefore it was good to see what support SSE are offering these customers.
“SSE is one of Perthshire’s biggest employers and make a real contribution to the local economy and it was therefore good to meet their staff.”
Greg Clarke, SSE’s Public Affairs Manager for Scotland said:
“We were delighted Murdo took the time out of his busy schedule to visit our customer service centre and networks control room. It gave us the opportunity to explain some of the work we are doing to ensure we provide all our customers, retail and networks, with the support and advice they need this coming winter”.
