Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has visited the Christians Against Poverty debt advice centre in Aberfeldy.
The centre was opened in January and aims to provide free, impartial debt advice for those struggling with financial pressures. Services include the creation of budgets, home visits from debt coaches, bill paying service and a friendly ear to talk about debt issues.
The CAP service is completely free and is offered to anyone regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Seeking help with high personal debt is often the hardest step and now residents in Highland Perthshire have a friendly and personal service to turn to.
“The CAP debt advice service is based in Aberfeldy Parish Church and has already been helping debt burdened residents in the area.
“Typically, debts build up when a relationship breaks down, or someone loses their job, or through bereavement – often the very circumstances when people are least able to cope with financial headaches. Therefore the centre in Aberfeldy is very important and I would urge anyone in Highland Perthshire who is experiencing debt pressures to contact the centre.”
