Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser, has called on the Scottish Government to make public any findings detailing manipulation of A&E waiting lists at Ninewells hospital.
This comes in the wake of two whistle-blowers who have claimed that surgeons are prevented from attending patients at A&E in an effort to improve A&E waiting time statistics.
As he tried to reassure the public the Deputy First Minister, John Swinney, agreed that any relevant findings from the Chief Medical Officer would be made public at the earliest possible opportunity.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“To have not one but two whistle blowers come forward and raise concerns over patient safety in A&E departments is hugely troubling, the Scottish Government need to get to the bottom of what is happening at Ninewells.
“I was pleased to hear that the Deputy First Minister is taking this case seriously and I would call on the Scottish Government to be transparent when publishing the findings from any investigation.
“Patient safety rather than waiting times statistics must be the priority for any hospital in NHS Tayside.”
