High Winds and heavy rain battered much of Scotland last night leaving just over 100,000 SSE and Scottish Power customers without power.
SSE engineers have been working flat-out to bring customers back online and have already restored power to 27,500 customers and are braving difficult conditions to bring power back to the remaining 69,000 households.
Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser, has praised their hard work and called for customers to remain patient whilst work is underway.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“It is testament to the skill and knowledge of SSE engineers that they have already managed to reconnect nearly a third of the 100,000 customers who lost power.
“I have already spoken to a number of people without power this morning and they are being very patient whilst they wait to be reconnected. I would urge others in a similar position to take this approach whilst engineers get to work.
“With heavy winds and rain still battering much of the country I ask constituents to remain vigilant when leaving their homes during the bad weather.”
