Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has said he hopes the 2 Sisters Food Group are “sympathetic” to agency workers, who are employed at the chicken processing factory in Coupar Angus.
The agency workers are not being paid by the company and have claimed they are having to fend for themselves. This followed an outbreak of Covid-19 among staff who work at the factory.
Commenting on the agency workers’ present situation, Mr Fraser, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, said: “I hope the 2 Sisters company is sympathetic to the plight of these workers as they will be relying on them to work once the site re-opens after this Covid-19 outbreak.
“They can’t be expected to survive on nothing just now, so need some support from the company.”
