Murdo Fraser MSP has expressed his concern following the announcement that BiFab has gone into administration.
The politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, said: “This is very concerning news and must be a very worrying time for the BiFab workforce.
“We debated BiFab at Holyrood earlier this week and it was extremely disappointing to hear several SNP politicians attempt to shift the blame for the situation the company finds itself. They tried to blame everyone else, including owners’ JV Driver, to the EU for its State Aid rules, and to the UK Government.
“JV Driver had repeatedly said they had offered to transfer their shares to the Scottish Government at no cost, and now we have this awful situation where the company has had to go into administration. This reflects very badly on the Scottish Government and is another shameful episode for them.”
Locally, the engineering firm has yards at Burntisland and Methil.
