Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has praised the achievements of community environment organisation “Greener Kirkcaldy” for their efforts in helping Fifers engage with energy saving initiatives.
During a members business debate Murdo praised the “hard work” and “commitment” of volunteers and advisors at the project.
Set up in cooperation with the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund, “Greener Kirkcaldy” run an advice shop in the town, conduct outreach events and run an informational website.
Speaking outside the Chamber Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“The green movement starts at home and that's why community organisations like Greener Kirkcaldy are so important in communicating energy efficiency and waste reduction strategies to the wider public.
“Greener Kirkcaldy have dealt with thousands of energy related enquiries which illustrates the strain high energy bills are placing on residents.
“Insulation solutions and measures to reduce food waste are among the most sought after at Greener Kirkcaldy and I would hope that the Scottish Government can continue to support them beyond 2016.”
