Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament welcoming the awarding of a prestigious Queens Award to Air Service Training (AST) in Scone.
Air Service Training which is now part of Perth College has been training pilots and engineers in Perth since 1960 and welcomes aspiring airmen from across the world.
In receiving the award for Enterprise in International Trade, AST will be able to use the Queens Award emblem to promote their business across the world and their Scone operation will also receive a Royal Visit in the upcoming year.
Murdo’s motion congratulating the AST team has already achieved cross-party support from MSP’s in Edinburgh.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“The Queens Award is perhaps the most decorated accolade a business in this country can win and AST is one of just 105 British companies to receive this special award.
“The relationship between Perth College and AST has allowed their business to flourish in what have been challenging economic circumstances.
“I have previously met the team at AST and understand the value of their services in training the next generation of engineers and airmen. I would like to wish the staff all the best for the future as they work extremely hard to provide one of the best engineer and pilot training courses in the world.
“The added exposure a Royal Visit in addition to this award will help sell AST to students around the world.”
