Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has heaped praise on newly-crowned British Amateur Champion, Bradley Neil, in a Parliamentary Motion.
The Blairgowrie golfer spectacularly won the British Amateur championship at Royal Portrush becoming the first Scot in ten years to win the title. This victory secures entry to the British Open in July, the US Open a month later and next year’s US Masters.
In a bumper year for Scottish golf Blairgowrie will play host to the Junior Ryder Cup with Gleneagles staging the senior version.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Blairgowrie is really buzzing, to have the British Amateur Champion hailing from the town in the same year that it will play host to the Junior Ryder Cup is something very special.
“This is a massive year for Scottish golf and with question marks over there being any Scottish representation in the European Team, Bradley’s win with give the game a real boost across the country.
“My motion has already attracted the support of a number of MSP’s which illustrates just how well Bradley has done and I would like to wish him well for the rest of the season.”
