Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is welcome news that good sense has prevailed and Perth & Kinross Council Development Management Committee have rejected the proposed quarry at Glenquey.
“It was clear from the outset that the vast majority of local people were against the quarry at Glenquey with real concerns over the potential environmental impact and road safety concerns.
“The local community with be relieved and I congratulate the local community councils for the hard work they have put in to represent the concerns of their local communities.
Liz Smith MSP continued:
“This application has also highlighted a number of concerns regarding the cross borders between local authority planning areas.
“Whilst the quarry at Glenquey development is under the authority of Perth and Kinross Council, the impact on nearby Clackmannanshire was clearly going to be significant.
“I have today written to Derek McKay MSP, Minister for Local Government and Planning to ask for the Scottish Government to review such situations and look at what lessons can be learnt.”
