Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has welcomed the countdown to Perthshire hosting the Ryder Cup. With less than 150 days to go the Perthshire based MSP has welcomed the potential to promote the area to an international audience.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is vital that we use every opportunity from Perthshire staging the Ryder Cup to make Scotland the world’s leading golf destination.
“During the week of The Ryder Cup itself, the local Perthshire and Scottish economy is expected to benefit by up to £100m, as visitors flock from across the globe to experience world class golf on one of the best courses in the world.
“The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles will be viewed by hundreds of millions of potential visitors worldwide and therefore provide one of the best advertising opportunities Perthshire and Scotland could have to promote the area to potential visitors.”
