Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called for clarity on whether any concerns have been raised that A&E waiting time figuresat Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) have also been manipulated.
The Chief Medical Officer is to visit Dundee's Ninewells Hospital on Monday after whistle-blowers claimed that surgeons are being forbidden from seeing patients before they are moved to a surgical department to keep waiting times down.
And a second whistle-blower said the system was putting patients at risk.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“Like all patients across Tayside, I welcome the fact that the Chief Medical Officer is to visit Dundee's Ninewells Hospital on Monday to investigate the situation.
“What is not yet clear is whether the allegations against NHS Tayside are based on substantial evidence or whether the allegations relate only to Ninewells or whether PRI is also involved.
“I have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Shona Robison MSP to ask for the investigation to be widened and for assurances to be given thatwaiting time figures at Perth Royal Infirmary A&E department have not also been manipulated.”
