Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called on the Scottish Government to review proposals for small scale flood defence schemes across Scotland.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“The need to see investment in small scale flood defence schemes across Scotland is something about which I have been pressing the Scottish Government for some time.
"Communities such as Milnathort have experienced flooding in recent years which has devastated many properties and businesses. However, no real action has been taken to address the potential flood risk.
“It is clear that only limited action has been taken by Perth & Kinross Council and the Scottish Government to address the threat of flooding from burns and waterways and that it is only a matter of time before we see flooding again.
"It is vital that we see a joined up approach between the Scottish Government and local councils in order to fund improvements to our local flood defence infrastructure.
“It is time for flooding to be put back at the top of the agenda.”
