Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called on Perth & Kinross Council and DF Concerts to provide a cast iron assurance that there will not be a blanket closure of local roads in the Strathearn, Strathallan and Almond areas during the week where access is required for T in the Park at Strathallan Castle.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“In the last 48 hours, I have been inundated with emails and phone calls from businessmen and women and local residents who are very concerned that there is the potential for more extensive closure of local roads than was originally envisaged, making it even harder for people to access businesses and local services.
“They find it extraordinary that, at this late stage, the full details of the traffic management plan are still not available and they are anxious that the deliberations at yesterday’s licensing committee did not provide any reassurance.
“Yet again, there seems to be a total lack of liaison between Perth & Kinross Council and DF Concerts with local residents and businesses being left in the dark about what is really happening. This is simply not good enough when it comes to the assistance required to help the event run smoothly and allay the concerns of local people who have had to put up with so little transparency over a long period of time. It is a tough enough time as it is for local business. This lack of clarity just adds to the uncertainty.
“I have written today to the Council Leader, Councillor Ian Miller to ask that the local traffic management plan be published immediately and for an assurance to be provided to all local businesses and residents that they are not going to be in lock down.”
