Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has written to Citylink to ask for a re-think on revised winter timetables for the bus service from Edinburgh to Kinross.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“I have been contacted by a large number of local residents expressing concern at the revised winter timetables for the bus service from Kinross to Edinburgh.
“There is currently an excellent service for commuters both in the morning and in the evening which provides a timetable for many workers to travel at a normal time to Kinross and Perth which matched working hours and allows them to return to Edinburgh.
“Many residents depend on the service for their commute to work and this will be adversely effected with the withdrawal of bus services proposed to come into force from November 23rd.
“There seems to have been no real consultation with passengers and many are extremely worried that this will be the thin edge of the wedge.
“The current bus service clearly is a vital commuter service for many and given the fact that no rail service is currently available to Kinross it is critical that this decision is urgently reviewed.
“I have written to Citylink to ask for a re-think on revised winter timetables for the bus service from Kinross to Edinburgh and also highlighted concerns to the Scottish Government Transport Minister, Derek MacKay MSP and ask for him to investigate the proposed changes and the impact this will have.”
