Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called on Police Scotland to provide a clear policing strategy for the proposed move of T in the Park to Strathallan Castle.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is very clear amongst the public that there remain several serious unanswered concerns about how the proposal to move T in the Park to Strathallan Castle Estate will be handled especially around the areas of traffic management and policing.
“The T in the Park festival site temporarily becomes the equivalent of the fifth largest town in Scotland over the weekend, and comparable to the largest Scottish city centre.
“It is therefore imperative that during the last stages of the consultation process these issues are examined in full. Whatever the outcome of whether or not T in the Park moves to Strathallan, the public needs to have full confidence that all due processes have been fully adhered to.
“In November, it was suggested that there would be no plans for walking routes between Auchterarder and the Strathallan Estate – it now appears that there will be a walking route and therefore concerns are not surprisingly being raised about traffic management and policing.
“I hope Police Scotland will be able to provide elected member and local residents with a full update on how they intend to police such an event.
“It is vital that Perth & Kinross Council can provide all assurances to the local community prior to making a decision.”
