Ahead of the busy Christmas season Liz Smith MSP has called on the First Minister to host a conference with all major retailers to address the issue of Perthshire consumers and companies being hit by unfair delivery charges.
Citizens Advice Scotland have reported that up to one million people living in Scotland are being "routinely ripped off" by unfair delivery charges.
CAS also reported that firms were placing Perthshire, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Argyll and Bute in the Highlands and Islands for charging purposes.
Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said:
“It is totally unacceptable that consumers and businesses in communities across western and northern Perthshire are being charged more for online parcel deliveries.
“This is an issue which the Scottish Government has failed to resolve and one which I believe needs additional focus ahead of the Christmas period.
“I have written to the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon MSP, to highlight this ongoing issue and called on the Scottish Government to make sure that Perthshire consumers are not hit with additional postage charges.
“I believe the time has come for SNP Ministers to consider a conference with these major retailers and interested parties to secure an agreement that companies will review these unfair delivery charges ahead of Christmas.”
