The Scottish FA Community Awards, sponsored by McDonald’s, recognise and reward those unsung heroes who make a difference to grassroots football in their local community and Murdo Fraser has urged constitutes to nominate those who they feel are due recognition.
There are ten different awards available, including Coach of the Year and Volunteer of the Year and nominations can be submitted at www.mcdonalds.co.uk/awards.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Grassroots football is the starting point for nearly every professional footballer in Scotland and it is vital that coaches get it right at an early age.
“Good coaches and volunteers are crucial in ensuring that children not only improve at football but also enjoy it. Furthermore, coaches can be invaluable in creating discipline and setting out good habits for children to follow in later life.
“For those in Perth and Kinross, Fife, Stirling and Clackmannanshire who know of someone deserving then I would encourage them to get online and nominate.
“In eleven years McDonald’s have helped train and recruit more than 25,000 coaches across the UK and these awards have served as inspiration for the next generation of coaches and volunteers.”
