Murdo Fraser MSP was a visitor at the Loch of the Lowes Nature Reserve, by Dunkeld. The reserve is managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, and features a variety of bird and animal life. It is very popular with both locals and visitors.
Murdo was visiting to meet Dr Maggie Keegan, Head of Policy and Planning at SWT, together with Simon Jones, Director of Conservation.
Speaking after the visit, Murdo Fraser said: “The Loch of the Lowes reserve is a real asset to Perthshire. Both locals and visitors have the opportunity to see a wide range of animals and birds in their natural habitat.
“As well as the conservation work that goes on, this is an important part of the Perthshire visitor economy, drawing some 25,000 visitors a year.
“It was interesting to visit the centre and hear more about the work that SWT is doing. It was particularly helpful to get an update on the Scottish Beaver Trial, which I know is of interest to many constituents in Tayside.”
