Transport Scotland is seeking the opinion of local residents on the proposed A9 corridor route options. A series of public meetings are to be held throughout May and June where officials will answer questions and discuss the A9 with local residents.
Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed these meetings but has raised fears as to the current speed of the dualling process.
The dualling project is to be split up into three geographical sections, Birnam to Glen Garry, Glen Garry to Dalraddy and Dalraddy to Inverness.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Several constituents have already contacted me with concerns as to possible route options and I would hope that Transport Scotland properly communicate with the communities involved.
“Dualling the A9 is a transformational project but local residents must be kept in the loop in order to minimise disruption.
“Despite the Scottish Government rigidly sticking to their 2025 deadline I am still hopeful that with the right support the dualling works can be completed sooner. However, the track record of Government’s delivering major infrastructure projects is not good and I would hope that the Scottish Government waste none of the 3880 days remaining until the 2025 deadline passes.”
