Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Liz Smith, is set to grill the Health Secretary tomorrow during a statement on the situation at NHS Tayside at the Scottish Parliament.
Shona Robison is under pressure following her handling of the recent scandal at NHS Tayside which saw charitable funds used to support an IT project.
The Health Secretary took the unprecedented step of calling for both the Chairman and Chief Executive to resign, and a temporary top team is now in place.
At an extraordinary meeting last week NHS Tayside agreed to repay the £2.7m to the charitable fund, but a formal inquiry has been launched by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
Commenting Liz Smith MSP said:
“The Health Secretary’s handling of this whole crisis is emblematic of her Government’s approach to the NHS: stand back and blame someone else. Unfortunately, this won’t wash with the majority of patients and it's time that we had answers from Shona Robison on how this situation was allowed to unfold.
“Ultimately, the buck stops with the Health Secretary and it’s important that we find out what she knew and when.
“NHS Tayside has been in dire financial circumstances for some time and it’s important that the Health Secretary outlines concrete actions that will see the board returned to an even keel.”
