Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed figures showing that nearly 10% of those affected by a cut in spare room subsidy have moved off housing benefit completely.
In Perth and Kinross the figure was 12%, Stirling was 19%, Fife was 9% and Clackmannanshire was 6%.
Murdo Fraser believes that these figures represent positive signs for growth in the Scottish economy.
Figures revealed today have shown that 24% of Scotland’s large manufacturing companies (250+ employees) are based in the boundaries of Mid-Scotland and Fife.
Commenting Murdo Fraser;
“UK Government policies for helping those back to work are starting to show real results.
“More and more companies are choosing Scotland and the UK as a place to start a business, which can be seen by an increased business start-up rate since 2012.
“By increasing the personal allowance and making work pay again the UK Government is helping those who were previously on benefits back into employment.“The Government’s two pronged approach is reducing unemployment and driving the economy forward.”
