Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed the announcement of free Wi-Fi in Perth, and Stirling train Stations.
In addition, Wi-Fi will also be available at Gleneagles station this summer.
Stations qualified for free mobile Wi-Fi because of their footfall, length of time customers on are the premises and the number of services run.
Free mobile Wi-Fi has already been fitted to all 59 of ScotRail’s Class 170 express trains - and will be added to Scotrail’s largest fleet of electric trains, Class 380s, this spring.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Travellers using both Perth and Stirling railway stations will welcome this move as will the business community who expect to have access to top quality digital communications. Additionally, effective digital infrastructure will be crucial in attracting private sector jobs to both Stirling and Perth.
“The 250,000 travellers using Wi-Fi on express trains each month has demonstrated to Scotrail that accessing emails and the internet is an important service and it is good to see its installation at both stations.
“I hope that Wi-Fi can be delivered smoothly to Gleneagles station in time for September’s Ryder Cup as over 250,000 spectators are expected to attend at the event with a significant number travelling to the course via the railway station.”
