Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser, has received written confirmation from Fife Council explaining that all animals from the now closed Fife Animal Park have been rehoused.
In February the animal park closed its doors for the final time as a consequence of poor financial results. The Park had been home to 76 species including water buffalo, a zebra and meerkats, raccoons, Shetland ponies, Wild cat and a Jacob sheep.
After spending a month in the care of specialists from Fife Council all animals have found new homes.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“This is great news as there had been some concern as to the future of the exotic and rare animals at the park.
“I previously expressed fear as to the fate of the park’s sole wildcat, as such is the current state of the indigenous wildcat it was imperative that it found a new home.
“Fife Council’s Public and Environmental Protection Team worked hard to ensure the rehoming was conducted as smoothly as possible and their performance should serve as a template for future animal rehomings.”
