Confidence in Police Scotland is falling in Fife and Tayside according to a Scottish Government commissioned survey.
The figures which were released as part of Scottish Crime and Justice survey, show that confidence is down 6% in Tayside and 5% fewer Fifers believe that the Police will respond to calls in a timeous fashion.
The drop in confidence comes after Police Scotland endured a torrid 2015 culminating in the standing down of Chief Constable, Stephen House.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP:
“Communities across Mid-Scotland and Fife are losing confidence in the police to catch criminals, respond to calls or to deal with incidents as they occur and these survey results must act as a wake up call to the Scottish Government.
“The SNP’s single Police force experiment went badly wrong in 2015 and as a result they must do more to improve the public’s experiences with the Police as it would be deeply concerning if this relationship resulted in a continuance of the trend where so many crimes go unreported.
“Police in Fife and Tayside have always enjoyed a positive rapport between them and the public and it would be deeply concerning if this hard earnt reputation crumbled as a result of SNP centralisation.”
